Online math teacher for BC school courses
Build understanding in elementary and middle-school math, Math 9, algebra, functions and trigonometry. High-school support includes Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-calculus 10, Pre-calculus 11 and Pre-calculus 12, plus calculus and AP Calculus. Online tutoring can address gaps in earlier learning, current coursework, test preparation or preparation for the next course. Teaching follows the learner’s reasoning, rather than simply supplying answers.
Online calculus and university math tutoring
Rachel teaches first-, second- and third-year university mathematics, including Calculus I–IV, linear algebra, differential equations, mathematical proof, real and complex analysis, abstract algebra, probability and discrete mathematics. Bring your syllabus, lecture notes and questions so Rachel can confirm the fit and focus the lesson. Whether you are rebuilding algebra skills for calculus or preparing for an exam, the aim is to make the ideas and methods understandable and help you solve problems independently.
University and college math courses
Online math and calculus tutoring is available for students at UBC, Langara, SFU, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and TRU, and students at other Lower Mainland universities and colleges are welcome. Course examples below help you identify the support to ask about. Send your current syllabus and questions so Rachel can confirm the topics and lesson fit. Course codes and requirements can change. Lumina Tutoring is an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by the institutions listed.

Discuss the learner’s level, learning goals and reporting requirements when you inquire. Explore homeschooling and individualized math support.
Online support for ADHD, autism, mental health barriers and IEPs
Rachel welcomes students with ADHD, autism, mental health barriers and any IEP designation, and holds a Mental Health First Aid certificate. Teaching can use clear routines, smaller tasks, visual explanations, flexible pacing and breaks according to the learner’s needs. We discuss useful supports together and adapt the instruction. This is educational support, with a focus on understanding, confidence and participation in math.
How do online math lessons work?
Start with your course, goals and a few examples of current work. Rachel identifies where the reasoning becomes difficult, explains the missing ideas and guides you through practice before asking you to try independently. A computer or tablet with a reliable internet connection, your course materials and paper for working are useful. The connection method and any setup details are confirmed by email before your lesson. Ask about availability for regular lessons or focused exam preparation.
