About Me.

Hello, and welcome to Lumina Tutoring.

I’m the founder and lead tutor behind Lumina, and education has been the center of my professional life for over two decades. I’m a BC-certified secondary mathematics teacher with classroom experience in Grades K–12, university-level teaching experience, and a background in curriculum development for both Canadian and international programs. My academic training includes degrees in Mathematics, Psychology, English, and Education, along with ongoing master’s-level studies in mathematics.

I started Lumina Tutoring in 2001 with a simple goal: to provide students with the kind of support that is often hard to find in busy classrooms — patient explanations, structured lessons, and teaching that adapts to how each individual student learns.

Over the years, I’ve worked with students who were struggling, students with learning differences, highly motivated academic students, homeschoolers, and those preparing for major exams or university pathways. No two learners are the same, and I believe tutoring should never be one-size-fits-all.

Families often tell me they appreciate not only the academic progress they see, but also the confidence their children gain. My approach is calm, professional, and encouraging, with a strong emphasis on building real understanding — not just short-term grade improvements.

If you’d like to learn more about what sets Lumina Tutoring apart, including my professional standards, teaching philosophy, learning environment, and how I support student safety, confidence, and long-term success, I invite you to visit our "Why Choose Lumina Tutoring" page.
