ADHD, Autism & Homeschooling

Math support should begin with understanding the learner. Rachel is a BC-certified teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience and holds a Mental Health First Aid certificate. Lumina Tutoring offers individual math instruction for students with ADHD and autism, students facing mental health barriers, and students with any IEP designation. Homeschooling math teaching is also available. Online lessons are available to families in West Vancouver, Vancouver, South Delta and across BC.

Math tutoring for students with ADHD and autism: Discuss the student’s strengths, current challenges and learning preferences before lessons begin. Clear steps, manageable tasks, visual explanations and a flexible pace can be built into the teaching approach. The goal is to make mathematical reasoning easier to follow and help the student build confidence through meaningful practice.

Homeschooling math teacher and tutor: Families can ask about ongoing math instruction, lesson planning, curriculum support and assessment. Rachel can help students build foundations or work through high school course concepts. Discuss the family’s learning plan and any school or program requirements to agree on the appropriate scope of support.

Support through high school and beyond: Lessons can cover K–12 math, Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-calculus 10, Pre-calculus 11 and 12, AP Calculus and university calculus. Instruction responds to what the student understands, with time to explain ideas, ask questions and practice independently.

Start with a conversation: Email Rachel about ADHD, autism or homeschooling math support. Share the student’s grade or course and the kind of teaching support you are looking for. Explore pre-calculus tutoring or West Vancouver online math lessons.
