Life is expensive.
Help doesn’t have to be.

Reduced-rate tutoring, AFU funding & financial assistance

A student’s opportunity to learn should not depend on a family’s income. If my regular $90–$120 hourly rate is out of reach, please contact me. I offer reduced rates for students and families experiencing financial hardship, with arrangements discussed individually and subject to availability.

You will still work directly with me, Rachel, a BC-certified teacher. The rate changes; the care, preparation and individualized teaching do not. School students, university students and homeschooling families are welcome to ask. You do not need AFU funding or a diagnosis to request Lumina’s financial assistance.

Tell me what support you need and, if you feel comfortable, what lesson budget would be manageable. We will discuss a sustainable rate and lesson plan before you commit. Please don’t assume tutoring is out of reach before we have talked.

AFU-funded tutoring in BC

Lumina accepts Autism Funding (AFU) for eligible tutoring services. For children aged 6–18, BC’s program can cover eligible out-of-school learning support or tutoring that is not part of the regular school program. Funding eligibility, available balances and service authorization must be confirmed before funded lessons begin. Regular school or homeschool instruction is not automatically an eligible AFU expense.

Contact me to discuss tutoring goals and the provider details needed for your funding paperwork. Apply for government funding through BC’s program; the form below requests support from Lumina and is not a government application. Under-six funding has different provider requirements. BC is transitioning its funding programs, so check the official BC Autism Funding information for current rules.

More ways to make tutoring manageable

Families can also explore Variety BC’s tuition and tutoring support, subject to its eligibility, application and approval requirements. University students can ask their campus accessibility office about tutoring supports and any available funding. These programs make their own decisions; funding is not guaranteed.

Support across the Lower Mainland and online

Ask about affordable math tutoring in Tsawwassen, Ladner, South Delta, Vancouver, West Vancouver and surrounding Lower Mainland communities, or online across BC. Support includes school math, Pre-Calculus 10–12, calculus, university math and homeschooling. Students with ADHD, autism, mental health barriers or any IEP designation are welcome. This is educational support, not clinical treatment.
