University Math Tutoring
I teach all first-, second- and third-year UBC Vancouver MATH courses. My university math teaching goes beyond Calculus I: linear algebra, differential equations, mathematical proof, real and complex analysis, abstract algebra, probability, discrete mathematics and mathematical modelling. Work one-to-one with Rachel, a BC-certified mathematics teacher with 20+ years of teaching experience. Online lessons, ongoing course support and midterm/final exam preparation are $90–$120 per hour.
Exam preparation built around your course
I have studied the math curricula at the universities I support and can help you prepare for midterms and finals. We use your current syllabus, lecture notes, learning objectives and instructor’s review materials to make a focused plan. The emphasis is on understanding the ideas, choosing an approach and solving questions independently.
Custom practice exams and questions
I can create original practice questions, targeted review sets and practice exams based on your course topics and level. We can work through a short diagnostic set or a timed mock exam, then review your reasoning, explain mistakes and try related questions. This helps turn a familiar worked example into a method you can use on your own.
Work through old exams with clear explanations
Bring released past exams or practice papers your instructor has authorized you to use. I can help solve the questions, explain each step and compare methods. We then practice similar problems so you can recognize the idea in a new setting. Your current syllabus guides the preparation because exam content and formats can change.
A practical plan for midterms and finals
For a midterm, we identify the most useful topics to review before the exam date. For a cumulative final, we connect earlier units, mix question types and revisit gaps in foundations. Lessons can include timed practice, organizing written solutions, interpreting questions and deciding when to move on and return to a difficult problem.
Individualized teaching and learning support
I welcome students with ADHD, autism, mental health barriers and any IEP designation, and hold a Mental Health First Aid certificate. We discuss helpful supports such as visual explanations, smaller tasks, flexible pacing and breaks. The teaching responds to how you learn and what your course requires.
Start with your course code and exam date
Email Rachel at rachelmilat@gmail.com with your university, course code, exam date, syllabus and the topics you find difficult. We will confirm course suitability, availability and your rate within $90–$120/hour before arranging lessons. Starting early leaves more time for practice and follow-up.
University math courses I teach
I teach every taught UBC Vancouver MATH course at the 100, 200 and 300 levels listed below, including honours courses and advanced university mathematics. Lessons cover understanding course material, building rigorous solutions and preparing for midterms and finals. Send your course code and outline to plan your lessons. Some calendar entries are legacy courses or are not offered every term. Lumina Tutoring is independent and is not affiliated with the institutions listed.
